A couple of weeks ago, Catrice announced their fall limited edition collection dedicated to all things coffee — Espresso Yourself. It includes an eyeshadow palette (suspiciously similar to Charlotte Tilbury), three shades of glossy lipsticks, two shades of cream bronzer/contour sticks, and even some merch — a hair claw clip. I knew right away I’d be getting the palette and one of the lipsticks, and of course, the shopaholic in me couldn’t resist — I bought them on the very first day of release.
Catrice Espresso Yourself Eyeshadow Quattro C01 Rose Roast
Let’s start with the most exciting part — the palette. In format, it’s practically identical to Charlotte Tilbury: the same slim packaging, only here it’s plastic with a faux-leather cover on the lid. It opens flat to 180 degrees, contains 5.6 g for four shades, and is made in China.
Inside you get:
-
one matte — a rosy plum-brown,
-
two shimmers — a bronze-brown and a pearly pink (duochrome in the pan),
-
plus a cream eyeliner in warm chocolate.
The shadows turned out to be surprisingly nice. The matte is excellent — it blends beautifully, doesn’t patch up or fall out, and layers easily. The shimmers are also user-friendly — they apply in a single swipe, blend into a thin layer, and don’t crease. Longevity over a primer is great — they last all day without fading or settling into fine lines.
The eyeliner, however, is questionable. I had a feeling it would be the odd one out, and I was right — I’d much prefer another matte instead. First, the tone is warm, which clashes with the rest of the palette. Second, it’s semi-transparent, and even with layering, the skin shows through. Third, it’s not long-lasting — after just a couple of hours it starts creasing and breaking down.
All in all, the palette is decent, but I’d skip the eyeliner.

Catrice Espresso Yourself High Shine Gloss Lipstick #002 Mocha Mousse
There are three lipsticks in the collection — I went with the middle shade. The first one is lighter, the third darker.
The packaging is cheap-looking plastic with interesting faceted edges. Weight: 3 g. Made in China. My shade, 002, is a pretty rosy-brown with a rich glossy finish. It smells slightly sweet, but definitely not like coffee.
The formula, unfortunately, is not the best — it melts from practically anything. Here’s how my brand-new, untouched lipstick looked when I got home (it was in my bag for maybe 10 minutes, car wasn’t hot, but it was around 25°C outside). Possibly, it had already softened while sitting on the store display.
Application is tricky — if you press just a bit harder, a chunk breaks off, and you have to smear it around. Luckily, the shade is semi-sheer, so it’s more forgiving.
On the lips, the lipstick gives amazing shine, layers without issues, and doesn’t settle into lines or bleed outside the contour. It feels slightly sticky but not uncomfortably so. After wearing or wiping it off, lips remain moisturized. It fades gracefully: first losing shine, then the color. Naturally, it’s not long-wearing.
Overall, it’s a decent lipstick, but the overly melty texture drives me crazy — after just one use, the stick already looks heavily worn.
