Dry shampoo has been appearing in my beauty routine more and more often lately. I’ve finally learned how to use it properly — and today I want to share my personal tips that help keep hair fresh for longer. They might be useful for you too. And as an example, I’ll talk about Yves Rocher Pure Detox Dry Shampoo with organic algae.
The shampoo is designed for normal to oily hair and comes in a minimalistic 150 ml metal can with a plastic cap. The spray nozzle is very fine, and all the detailed product information is placed on the back of the bottle.
The dispenser distributes the product evenly. The shampoo itself is white and has a very strong scent. To be honest, the fragrance isn’t the most pleasant, but it fades quite quickly. Still, it does linger on the hair for a few hours, which is something to keep in mind. At first, the shampoo leaves a visible white cast on the hair, but it brushes out completely. Just note that your hairbrush will need washing afterward.
Now, the most important dry shampoo hack: don’t apply it to dirty hair — apply it to clean hair. I always use it right after washing and drying my hair. I spray it in, brush it out, fluff the roots a bit — and this way my volume can last up to two days, while my hair gets oily much more slowly. Dry shampoo also works great as a styling product: apply it to clean hair to create texture and lift at the roots.
If you apply dry shampoo to already dirty hair, you’ll most likely end up with a messy buildup — and you’ll still have to wash your hair anyway. That’s why I’ve completely switched to using dry shampoos only on clean hair, and it truly helps extend freshness.
As for the Yves Rocher dry shampoo, it’s not perfect (I’ll talk about my ideal one another time), but it does work. If the strong scent doesn’t bother you and the price seems acceptable — especially with discounts — it’s worth trying.
