Essence released a lip scrub as part of their Alice in Wonderland collection, and of course I had to get it. The product comes in an adorable and compact 10 ml tube made of sturdy plastic. It’s manufactured in China, although for some reason the ingredient list isn’t printed on the packaging.
The cap twists off, and underneath there’s a foil seal that protects the contents from tampering. Once the seal is removed, the tube becomes easy to open — a gentle pull is enough. Under the cap sits a slim, precise nozzle that makes dispensing the scrub very convenient.
The scrub itself is sugar-based, with a delicious scent of berries and sweet pastries. The particles are small, reddish, and evenly suspended in a clear, oily base. There are plenty of exfoliating grains, yet they’re soft and do not scratch or irritate the skin.
I usually apply a small amount with my finger, massage gently, and remove the excess with a tissue before applying more demanding lip products. The result is excellent: the lips become noticeably smoother, softer, and well-prepped for makeup. The effect is more than enough.
