⭐ Shiseido Brow InkTrio — A Modern Take on the Classic Japanese Brow Pencil

Japanese brow pencils have long been cult favorites, but instead of choosing a traditional one, I went for a more modern option — the Shiseido Brow InkTrio. And it turned out to be a very successful pick.

The brand positions this product as a “trio,” though technically it contains two products: a pencil (0.06 g) and a powder (0.25 g). They can be used separately or together, giving you three application methods. The pen also includes a firm, convenient spoolie.

The pencil is excellent — a perfect taupe shade that doesn’t lean warm or reddish. Its texture is quite firm at first, becoming smoother with use. I love that it can draw fine, hair-like strokes and that it reacts slightly with natural skin oils, creating a very natural finish.

The powder matches the pencil shade and is dispensed through a tiny sponge applicator. You shake the tube to load the sponge, apply it to one brow, close the lid, shake again — then apply to the second brow. You can’t load enough for both in one go, which makes application slightly less convenient.

Interestingly, the powder looks cooler-toned, while the pencil is more neutral.

My favorite way to use this product is not as a trio at all, but simply as a standalone pencil. The color is ideal for me, the staying power is impressive (I wore it without brow gel), and it doesn’t rub off easily.

With powder, the brows gain a sort of fluffy dimension that I personally don’t love — so I rarely use both together. And the powder alone doesn’t work for me either; it's too subtle and lacks shape and definition. So for me, it’s pencil-only — hardcore mode.

Price: €29
Rating: 4/5 (since I don’t use the powder, the product isn’t perfect)
