Lately, I’ve been enjoying shaping my brows using two products instead of one. I usually start with a brow pencil and then lock everything in with a tinted brow mascara. This technique makes brows look fuller, more dimensional, and more natural. For the second step, I recently picked up Maybelline Express Brow Fast Sculpt Mascara in shade 04 Medium Brown.
The mascara comes in an opaque tube matching the shade inside and contains 2.75 ml of product. It doesn’t sound like much, but trust me — it will last a long time. The brush is quite unusual and rather large for my taste, though some may love it. One side features a classic spiral brush, while the other has long bristles designed to shape and lift the hairs. The brush tends to pick up too much product, so wiping off the excess on the neck of the tube is essential.
Shade 04 Medium Brown is ideal for light brown and dark blonde hair. It has no redness at all and carries a subtle cool undertone, which is exactly what I look for in brow products. It turned out to be a perfect match for me, even though I initially considered going one shade lighter — glad I didn’t.
The texture is lightweight and easy to distribute, but it sets very quickly on the brows. You need to work fast: apply, shape, and move on to the other brow immediately. There’s no time to hesitate. Once the product sets, it won’t budge — removing mistakes is only possible with a cleansing oil or a two-phase remover. Micellar water barely works (I tested it).
Thanks to this fast-drying formula, the mascara lasts all day. Brow hairs stay exactly where you place them, without drooping or shifting. After drying, the brows feel slightly stiff and crunchy, but this doesn’t bother me personally. For removal, I strongly recommend using a bi-phase remover or cleansing oil — micellar water simply isn’t enough for this one.
