Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil — gentle yet effective makeup removal

When it comes to makeup removal, I usually stick to two options: cleansing oils or cleansing balms. I alternate between them, and the latest product I tried was Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil.

This is a Korean brand I hadn’t used before, though I’d heard quite a lot about it. For my first introduction, I chose their cleansing oil. It comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a volume of 200 ml and a long, narrow spout. The spout can be opened and closed, which is especially convenient for travel. Initially, the oil was packed in a cardboard box.

The oil itself is very lightweight and almost fragrance-free. It has a slightly yellowish, transparent texture and applies easily to the skin without running down the hands. It dissolves all types of makeup effortlessly, including waterproof mascara and matte lipstick. It may cause a slight stinging sensation in the eyes, but it doesn’t leave any bitter taste on the lips.

When water is added, the oil emulsifies quickly and rinses off without leaving a white film or a cloudy feeling in the eyes. It washes off cleanly, although I always follow up with a cleansing foam as a second step.

The oil doesn’t dry out the skin, is quite economical to use, and cleanses the face thoroughly. Overall, I really enjoyed using it, despite the small downside.
