You’ve probably seen d’Alba everywhere — that chic, minimalist Korean brand adored by influencers. I finally decided to try it myself but went for something different — not skincare, but their Skin Fit Grinding Serum Cover Pact. And sadly, it turned out to be a total disappointment.
✨ Packaging & first impressions
The cushion looks stunning: sleek black-and-gold design, solid plastic, and a truly luxurious feel in the hands. Inside, there’s a mirror, a puff, and even a printed instruction sheet (only in Korean).
The product uses a grinding mechanism — you twist the top, and the foundation comes out through two small holes. It’s two-toned: the pink part is for hydration and protection, the beige for coverage. Once blended, it creates a soft, creamy texture with a delicate floral scent.
That’s where the good news ends.
⚠️ The problems
-
It’s extremely oily.
The texture feels like straight-up facial oil mixed with pigment. Instead of melting into the skin, it sits on top, emphasizing every dry patch, pore, and fine line. -
It never sets.
The foundation remains wet and slippery no matter what you do. Powdering helps for maybe 30 minutes — then the grease resurfaces, and your skin starts shining like a glazed donut (not in a good way). -
It oxidizes badly.
My shade (23) darkened at least one and a half tones after application — something I’ve never experienced before with any foundation. -
Completely unwearable in warm weather.
The formula literally melts off the face, breaking apart and clinging to texture. Even in cooler months, it didn’t perform better — and to make matters worse, the grinding mechanism broke after just a few uses.
When I tried to salvage it by opening the packaging with pliers (yes, really), the product inside had already started drying out. After two more attempts, I gave up.
💬 Verdict
Beautiful packaging, horrible formula. One of the most disappointing cushion foundations I’ve ever tried.
