Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Shadow in Amethyst — Review

I’ve tried Laura Mercier’s stick eyeshadows before, and I liked them, though that was with a lighter shade. Today I’m testing the darker shade, Amethyst, and sharing how I’ve been working with it.

The shadows come in a small box with detailed information and ingredient list. The stick itself is plastic, 1.64 g, twist-up format, with a soft, slightly silicone-like texture and no scent. It doesn’t break when applied — definitely a plus.

Amethyst is a shimmery brownish-plum with golden sparkles. One layer looks sheer, two layers are more intense.

Application is easy — they spread smoothly on the lid and can be blended with a barrel brush or finger for a soft smoky effect. But layering is tricky: shadows tend to crease and clump. On my eyes, even with primer or over concealer, two layers don’t hold well.

For now, I mostly use them in a single layer or on the lower lash line. On the lower lid, they look expressive and stay in place much better.
