I genuinely enjoy ampoule skincare — it feels more effective to me than most other formats simply because it delivers a true concentrate. I already had experience with similar products, so testing the BABOR Hydra Plus Ampoules wasn’t something new, but it turned out to be a very successful introduction to the brand.
I used the one-week set containing 7 glass ampoules of 2 ml each. They come in a sturdy cardboard box that opens like a small casket, which is both practical and visually pleasing. For safe opening, a rubber ampoule opener is included.
The texture is very lightweight — basically water-like — with a pleasant floral scent. It spreads effortlessly, absorbs instantly and leaves no sticky residue. One full ampoule is far too much for a single use; for me, one ampoule lasts 3–4 applications. The only downside is that once opened, there’s no proper way to seal it again — I had to use a cap from other ampoules.
My skin is dry and becomes sensitive in winter, often developing flaky areas. This season, the sides of my nose and my chin were extremely dry and uncomfortable. Surprisingly, after just a couple of uses, the dryness disappeared almost completely. I honestly didn’t expect such a noticeable effect, but it was definitely there.
Another pleasant surprise: within a few days, a large inflammation on my forehead — the kind that usually turns into a painful under-the-skin breakout — almost completely subsided. I hadn’t introduced any other new products into my routine, so I confidently credit the ampoules for this result.
Overall, I really like them. They layer well with any cream and can be used both morning and evening, making them a versatile and effective addition to skincare.
