I rarely pay special attention to citrus ingredients in skincare, but sometimes they’re simply impossible to ignore. That’s exactly what happened with Banila Co Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Brightening Mandarin-C, enriched with mandarin extract and designed to boost skin radiance.
This balm was my first introduction to the brand — and definitely not the last. Spoiler: I liked this version less than the classic pink or blue ones, but it’s still a good product. The balm is made in Korea, so most of the information is in Korean, though English translations are also present.
The jar contains 100 ml of product, and thanks to its texture, the balm is used quite economically. Inside the box you’ll find a plastic spatula and a protective inner lid. The balm itself is sealed with a foil membrane featuring the brand’s logo.
Once opened, the balm reveals a bright mandarin-orange color. Unfortunately, the scent isn’t as intensely citrusy as I expected, but it’s still pleasant and noticeable. The balm is easy to scoop with a spatula or fingers, melts quickly from the warmth of the skin, and spreads effortlessly without feeling greasy.
It doesn’t irritate the eyes or lips, emulsifies easily into a white milky texture, and rinses off completely without residue. It works perfectly for daily use and removes all types of makeup — from foundation and waterproof mascara to long-wearing matte liquid lipsticks. Another big plus is its efficiency: with daily use, one jar lasted me about two months.
So why isn’t this my favorite Clean It Zero version? The classic formulas feel softer and more oily to me, and, in my experience, they’re gentler on dry skin. This mandarin version slightly dries my skin — just a little, but noticeable. Maybe I’m being picky, but I can confidently recommend the pink and blue versions to everyone.
