Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked “Deer” Palette — Review & Swatches ✨🦌

Every year, Hourglass treats us to a new limited-edition face palette in their signature luxurious packaging. Until recently, I never really thought about buying one — but after watching a few videos, I gave in. And now the lightest version of this year’s collection, the one with the deer design, is finally mine! I didn’t bother swapping the pans (you can technically mix and match with the fox or swan versions) — I loved both the outer design and the color story inside.

Packaging & First Impressions

Hourglass never disappoints when it comes to presentation. The palette comes in a luxe cardboard box, wrapped in additional black tissue — a small detail, but it feels special. The compact itself is metal, beautifully heavy and well-made. Each pan contains 1.4 g of product — not a lot, but these are baked powders, so they last a long time.

The lid opens a full 180 degrees (some say it only goes halfway — just apply a little more pressure, it’s fine!). Inside you’ll find two finishing powders, a bronzer, a highlighter, and two blushes — a perfect all-in-one face edit.

Texture & Performance

All six powders have that signature silky, baked texture Hourglass is known for. They’re smooth, blend like a dream, and never look powdery. The peach blush kicks up a bit of dust, but the rest pick up perfectly on a brush.

  • Finishing Powders: I usually mix both shades and apply them as a final step to blur and add that soft-focus glow. The finish isn’t glittery or metallic — it’s subtle and luminous, like “your skin but better.”

  • Bronzer: The standout of the palette for me. The tone is chef’s kiss — not too warm, not too cool. It blends effortlessly, layers beautifully, and gives that natural sun-kissed look without any patchiness.

  • Highlighter: Pretty, refined, but not groundbreaking. It ties the whole look together nicely, just not a wow moment for me.

  • Blushes: Both the peach and the pink are gorgeous. They build easily, melt into the skin, and give that healthy, lit-from-within flush.

Final Thoughts

This palette is absolutely beautiful. The bronzer and finishing powders stole my heart, while the highlighter was the least impressive but still solid. I finally get why people adore Hourglass — it’s one of those palettes you just want to reach for every day.
