The American brand Simple is known for its minimalistic formulas, clean design, and affordable prices. I recently tried two of their products and have mixed feelings to share.
The Simple Water Boost Cleansing Gel comes in a very basic transparent plastic tube with a blue flip cap (150 ml). Like many similar gels, water seeps into the lid over time, so it stops closing tightly — a small but annoying flaw.
The gel itself is clear, completely fragrance-free, and lathers into a light foam that’s gentle but oddly difficult to rinse off. Maybe it’s my soft tap water, or maybe it’s just the surfactants — but sometimes I feel like I haven’t rinsed my face thoroughly. A few times I even noticed traces of foundation on the towel after cleansing.
Overall, it’s a mild and economical cleanser that doesn’t dry out the skin, but I wouldn’t repurchase — it just takes too much effort to rinse.
The Simple Vital Vitamin Cream SPF15 has the same minimalist vibe — a green and white jar (50 ml) that comes in a cardboard box full of information. What disappointed me was the lack of any protective seal — no foil, no plastic barrier.
The cream inside turned out to be quite runny, almost like a lotion. It has no fragrance, but it leaves a slight white cast — likely due to physical sunscreen filters. Still, it feels pleasant on the skin: absorbs quickly, doesn’t feel greasy, and works well under makeup.
Despite the tricky texture, I really liked its performance. It provides balanced hydration and nourishment without heaviness or stickiness. It doesn’t cause irritation or pilling with other skincare or foundation. The SPF15 is rather low, so in summer I layered it with a proper sunscreen, but now in autumn it works just fine on its own.
