I rarely use black eye pencils, preferring brown ones, but black is a classic and definitely deserves a spot in any makeup bag. Since this beauty — Bobbi Brown 24 Hour Kajal Liner Waterproof — appeared in my collection, my hand reaches for it more and more often, especially for tightlining and defining the lower lash line.
This is my first pencil from the brand — before that, I was only familiar with Bobbi Brown lipsticks and primers. The packaging feels premium: the pencil comes in a box, no unnecessary plastic. The weight is 1.2 g, the barrel is plastic, and it has a cap that protects it from drying out. I do wish there were a built-in sharpener, but I have my own, so it’s not a big deal.
The pencil is gel-based and very soft — a true kajal. The color is ultra-black, with no greyness or dullness. It applies intensely and effortlessly from the first swipe, even on the waterline — exactly what you expect from a kajal. It blends easily at first, but you can’t hesitate: it sets fairly quickly and then doesn’t budge.
I have sensitive eyes, especially in winter — they tend to water — but this pencil has never caused any issues. The longevity is amazing: it stays in place until you remove it, doesn’t smudge, and doesn’t transfer. Honestly, this is one of the best black liners I’ve tried and one that truly works for me.
