Catrice Duochrome Eyeshadows — Budget Sparkle That Impresses

In recent years, Catrice has been pleasantly surprising me. If the brand used to fly under my radar, now I often find myself drawn to their limited editions, and the permanent range keeps delivering solid products. A great example: these duochrome eyeshadows priced at a very budget-friendly €5.

So far, three shades have been released. Each comes in a clear plastic case that resembles an ice crystal. Weight: 1 g. Made in China. The packaging feels sturdy, and the lid opens a full 180 degrees.

030 Midnight Wave is a blue-to-purple duochrome. It has the largest shimmer particles and a grey base, which can make it look a bit muddy. It’s the trickiest to apply, tends to stick unevenly to the lid, and produces noticeable fallout. For me, this one is the least successful.

020 Berry Blaze shifts from plum to a green “beetle” tone. It applies easily and blends beautifully — I honestly expected it to be more difficult to work with, but it isn’t at all.

010 Pink Horizon shifts between pearly, yellow-green, and pink. This one is the most delicate and versatile, perfect for everyday makeup. Under artificial light, the pink sparkles look especially stunning.

My favorites are shades 10 and 20: they apply well with a finger or silicone applicator, blend nicely, and look beautiful for about 4–5 hours before starting to fade slightly. In the case of shade 10, this is easy to fix with a quick finger tap. The blue shade, however, disappointed me — it started slipping after just a couple of hours.

Overall, these shadows are a great find: beautiful shifts, affordable price, and decent packaging. Definitely recommended!

Price: €5.25
Rating: 5/5 for shades 10 and 20, 3/5 for shade 30.
