I know many makeup lovers are constantly on the hunt for cool-toned palettes, while brands keep releasing mostly warm ones. Personally, I don’t mind warm shades (my undertone suits them!), but I finally found a budget-friendly cool palette in the drugstore — Essence The Cool Nude Edition.
The packaging is simple and minimalist — transparent plastic with a snap lid and no mirror. I’ve had it for almost a year, and it still looks good as new (though, to be fair, I don’t reach for it that often 😅).
Inside are 9 shades with a total weight of 10 g — 6 mattes and 3 shimmers:
-
Shimmery pearl white
-
Matte nude beige
-
Matte light beige
-
Shimmery silver
-
Matte gray
-
Shimmery lilac-pink
-
Matte wine
-
Matte dark gray
-
Matte black
The shimmers are soft and creamy but can cause some fallout — I prefer applying them with my finger for a smoother look. The light mattes blend beautifully and evenly, while the dark shades can be tricky — patchy or dusty if overworked. The black is the most problematic; I mostly use it to smudge eyeliner rather than as a standalone color.
In terms of wear time, the shadows perform decently — I always use an eyeshadow base (hooded eyes require it), and the shimmer shades slightly fade throughout the day but nothing dramatic. They remove easily with any makeup remover.
✨ Overall: a solid cool-toned palette for the price. If you’ve been looking for something affordable and icy, this one is worth checking out!
💰 Price: €5
⭐ Rating: 4 / 5 (for the tricky dark mattes)
