Maybelline Build-A-Brow: weather-proof brows for rain, heat, and everything in between

Summer is over and the rainy season has arrived, but neither humidity nor sunshine will be a problem if you use one of Maybelline’s relatively recent launches — Maybelline Build-A-Brow. I chose the marker in shade 255 Soft Brown.

The packaging feels solid: a cardboard box filled with information, although I couldn’t find the product volume anywhere. The marker is double-ended. On one side, there’s an ultra-fine brush tip designed to draw individual brow hairs; on the other, a clear fixing gel with a mini brush. I’ll say it right away — I really like this brush. I strongly prefer small gel brushes over oversized ones that pick up too much product and require more time to clean than to apply.

Shade 255 Soft Brown is a light brown with a slight warm undertone. Ideally, I would’ve chosen something darker, but I ordered online. In summer, however, this shade worked perfectly, especially when paired with a brow pencil or powder. Even worn on its own, the marker has excellent longevity — and once sealed with the gel, it stays in place until you remove it.

The gel has a lightweight, comfortable texture and doesn’t feel heavy on the brows. It takes a bit of time to fully set, but once it does, it holds the hairs exactly where you want them. This is not a laminating effect, which personally suits me just fine. It keeps my brow hairs in place and locks all layers for the entire day. Removal requires an oil cleanser or cleansing balm — nothing else will take it off.

Overall, this duo creates well-defined brows that are resistant to heat, humidity, and rain. I’ve even gone swimming with brows done using the marker and gel — and they stayed perfectly intact. Definite thumbs up.
