Rabanne is mostly associated with fragrances — I’ve owned a few and had very positive experiences. Decorative cosmetics from the brand, however, were new to me. About a year and a half ago, I received a cream eyeshadow in shade 79 Cosmic Rave in an advent calendar.
I have the mini version (4 ml; full size is 10 ml). The packaging is a plastic tube with a screw cap; the nozzle was initially sealed with foil. The design is minimalistic but eye-catching thanks to a wide colored stripe matching the shade inside.
The dispenser opening is very small, which makes application neat and controlled. It’s better to shake the tube before use, as the pigment can separate from the base.
The shade itself is a bright metallic gold. It looks stunning in swatches, especially when applied opaquely. But on the eyelids, things get more complicated. If layered, the texture quickly settles into creases and emphasizes skin texture. Applied in a thin layer, the color becomes too sheer and loses its impact.
Longevity was also disappointing. On my deep-set eyes, it lasted about two hours at best before creasing and fading unevenly — regardless of primer, concealer, or bare skin.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it work. I wouldn’t repurchase or recommend it.
