I love nude lip glosses because they work with absolutely any eye makeup. For everyday wear, nude shades are universal, effortless, and always flattering. Max Factor X 2000 Calorie Lip Glaze Plumping Lip Gloss in the shade 050 Guava Flair isn’t perfect, but it’s definitely a pretty option.
The packaging is very simple — no outer box, just the tube itself. The volume is 4.4 ml, and the gloss is made in the UK. Inside, there’s a large, soft applicator similar to those used in Fenty glosses and Revolution lip oils. It has a small dip at the tip that holds quite a lot of product — honestly, even too much for my taste. One dip is more than enough for both lips. I usually remove the excess and apply a very thin layer.
The gloss looks quite dense in the tube, but it can be applied sheer. It has a strong floral-vanilla scent and a beautiful, oil-like shine. Shade 050 Guava Flair is a peachy-pink nude. When applied thinly, it slightly lightens the natural lip color and can emphasize lip lines. When worn with a lip liner, it tends to blend into it and adapt to the base color.
Applied in a thin layer, the gloss looks nice, although from certain angles you can see it settling into lip lines. With a thicker application, this effect becomes even more noticeable. Another downside for me is that after about one to two hours, the gloss can form a white line on the lips. It’s easy to remove, but constantly checking the mirror isn’t exactly enjoyable.
That said, the gloss has many positive qualities. It doesn’t dry out the lips, leaves them feeling moisturized and comfortable, and isn’t sticky at all. It feels caring and works well as an everyday product. The line includes 15 shades, so there’s plenty to choose from.
Rating: 4/5 (minus points for emphasizing lip lines and the white residue)
