Did you know that Max Factor makes not only makeup but also skincare? I honestly had no idea until recently, when I tried the Miracle Pure Skin Illuminating Serum with niacinamide and vitamin C — and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised.
The serum comes in a cardboard box, and inside you get a 30 ml plastic bottle with a standard dropper. Through the clear bottle, the product looks stunning: a transparent base with little golden capsules suspended inside. There’s no fragrance, the texture is slightly gel-like, and it sinks into the skin quickly.
To use it, you crush the capsules, mix them into the serum, and apply to the face. A little warning from my own experience: make sure you blend the capsule properly — one time I didn’t, and a golden streak dried on my cheek!
Now, the downsides: the capsules take some effort to crush, and over time the clear base turns cloudy, which doesn’t look very appealing. Performance-wise, though, it’s quite nice. I didn’t notice dramatic changes, but it hydrates and nourishes well, isn’t sticky, and layers beautifully with other creams. I’ve been applying it in the mornings after toner, and my skin drinks it up gratefully.
It’s fairly economical in use, but to be honest, I probably won’t repurchase. A nice product, worth trying once — but not a forever favorite.
